Coming up: Galway Days, Blueberry Festival and Anchorage VegFest highlight a busy weekend

If you weren’t able to catch this Anchorage rock band’s two hot sets at Salmonfest last weekend, here’s an opportunity to check them out in town.

Chester Creek Cleanup: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Valley of the Moon Park, 610 W. 17th Ave.

As a way to celebrate the 50th year of the Clean Water Act, a trio of environmental groups are hosting this event to clean a portion of Chester Creek. At 10:15 a.m., there will be a ribbon cutting to celebrate the new Westchester Waterfowl Sanctuary Viewing Platform opening. Bags, gloves and hand sanitizer will be provided for the cleanup portion, and organizers recommend parking at Valley of the Moon Park.

Anchorage VegFest: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, The Nave, 3502 Spenard Road

The festival touts itself as a “celebration of all things plant-based and sustainable for the health of people, our planet, and the animals we share it with.” The festival features The Ed Washington Experience and other musical options, plus instructors on topics like mindfulness and plant-based nutrition. There will also be plenty of veg-friendly vendors as well.

All Alaska Reptiles and Exotics Expo: 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center, 1001 S. Clapp St. in Wasilla

This event bills itself as hosting all of Alaska’s coolest exotic animals in one place. The Reptile Barn, Naga Den Reptiles and Jonathan’s Reptiles, the Alaska Feeder Farm and Alaska Bug Dealers will all be on location. There are also crafts and food options plus other vendors. Tickets are $5 for individuals or $20 for a family household pass.

Galway Days Irish Festival: 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Town Square Park, 544 W. Fifth Ave.

This annual festival includes live music, workshops, Irish dancing, a bake sale, vendors and more. Check their website for schedules for both the main stage music and the more than a dozen different workshops.

907 Wrestling: Better Enemies: 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Arctic Rec Center, 4855 Arctic Blvd.

907 Pro Wrestling Champion AJ Radical and “The Giver” Jerry Bishop are set to face off in a championship rematch — this time in a chain match. Other wrestlers in action include Mask of The Nanook, Jet Lucas, Auron West, Bryson Axl, Officer Nick Mercury and B.A.R.G. Tickets are $15 general admission and $20 for ringside.

Blueberry Festival: 12:30-8 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Alyeska Resort, 1000 Arlberg Ave. in Girdwood

Each summer, the Alyeska Resort in Girdwood hosts this blueberry-themed event with vendors, pie eating contests and berry picking. Live music from Ava Earl and Edge of the West on Saturday and Past our Prime, Juno Smile and Loaded Karma on Sunday.

Jauz Presents: Bite This! Block Party: 7 p.m. Saturday, Williwaw, 609 F St.

DJ and producer Jauz headlines this show that includes reality TV star Brody Jenner and 17-year-old non-binary pansexual producer and songwriter Moore Kismet. Tickets for the show range from $35 for general admission to $125 for VIP tickets.

Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience: 10 a.m. Wednesday-Sunday, Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center, 600 Seventh Ave.

This traveling exhibition starts this week and is in Anchorage until Sept. 22. It includes 300 projected artworks, 30,000 square feet and over 4 trillion pixels of detail. The exhibition takes approximately one hour, so check schedules for when final visitors are allowed entry each day. Tickets range from $28.99 for children to $83.99 for VIP.
