Discovery Channel airs 'new' footage of 'Alaskan Bush People,' and it looks awfully familiar

The "Alaskan Bush People" producers and editors deserve an Emmy for their ability to get "new" content out of previously aired footage. For example, on Friday they aired two new episodes called "Book of Ami" and "Book of Bam," where they asked a few viewer questions of the title character while showing fan-favorite moments.

Ami's the mother of the Bush people, and the majority of her episode featured her going to the dentist to get a few teeth pulled while cards flashed on screen explaining everything from her favorite fish recipes (boring), to her connection to God (expected), to her saying that her kid's lack of dating experience can be used to their advantage (nope). Seriously, an hour of TV about getting teeth pulled, when it's already aired. That is some Emmy-worthy stuff.

They did include a humorous montage of Ami talking about grandbabies and then crying over small things. The worst part, which made me fast forward, was when Billy answered the question: "What's the most romantic thing you've ever done for Ami?" He goes on to tell a tale of rehabbing an old commercial fishing boat and putting a king-size bed in the cabin for Ami. There were several looks exchanged and innuendo.

The second episode focused on Bam running the family boat into a dock. Bam is the family's self-proclaimed "angry guardian angel" and second eldest son. We learned some important things about Bam, like if he had a time machine he would either travel back to a pirate ship, the Old West or the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Beyond a doubt, the highlight of Bam's episode was learning via pop-up card that "Bam once tried to use a knife to make his jeans into cutoffs while wearing them. In the end he cut his leg, resulting in five stitches and a scar." I can picture the logic of the angry guardian angel: "I'm hot and I have a knife." Once again, we are given evidence the Browns need to invest in more Southeast Alaska-appropriate clothing. Maybe some quick-drying zip-off pants?

Really, the episode just confirms the inability of Discovery Channel to keep up with the public's thirst to know everything about the Brown family.

Meanwhile, while watching "Dr. Dee: Alaska Vet," I almost vomited. Medical shows are not for me. Animal medical shows are especially not for me. Whether it's watching cats get fixed, dogs that have been attacked getting stitched up or even a picture of a snake, this show makes me grateful that veterinarians and doctors exist. There was a moment when Dr. Dee had her hand inside a cow checking to see if it was preggo, and it pooped on her. To be clear, it pooped on her face, which is one of the most disgusting things I can imagine.
