Alaska DIYers try to flip 'n' move on a new reality show

If you feel like I do, you're probably ready for some trivial news about Alaska reality TV. It's been a weird couple of weeks, you know, with the Cubs winning the World Series and all. So let's get right back to it!

Thankfully, there are two things that you can count on in this world. Obviously, taxes and that there will be another new Alaska reality TV show on a little-known cable channel.

There is yet another new show on the DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Network, called "Alaska Flip N Move." This is a spinoff of "Texas Flip N Move," which has had several seasons. My first question is: why not include the "a" and "d"? "Alaska Flip And Move" doesn't take up much more space or time. The general premise is based around teams buying property or movable structures for cheap and then turning them into Pinterest-type projects full of rustic wood and whatever else is hip and trending.

Two episodes have aired thus far. The first is about a family that's expanding a lake cabin, but they have to transport things over a thawing frozen lake to do it. The next is about friends who "take the empty top half of an old barn and turn it into a modern, open-concept living space," according to DIY's website. In the same episode a couple tries to make a home out of a shipping container, but of course they have to battle the elements to make it happen.

Next, "Alaskan Bush People" is doing their "Alaskan Bush People" thing where they release a "new" episode made up entirely of highlights from former seasons. They really are the experts at making the most out of limited footage.

Get ready for another "Kilchergiving" episode of the "Alaska: The Last Frontier." On Sunday, Nov. 20, they'll air their yearly Thanksgiving special, where they share family recipes, sit around a barn and discuss all the things they are thankful for in a slightly staged manner.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, unfortunately Destination America will no longer have a boring all-day "Railroad Alaska" special, since apparently now they only air shows about monsters, haunted houses and Bigfoot.

After Thanksgiving, on Sunday, Nov. 27, Jewel (famous singer-songwriter and long-lost Kilcher) will finally be on "Alaska: The Last Frontier" in an episode called "The Prodigal Daughter Returns."

Finally, some sad news. One of the stars of "Deadliest Catch," Jake Harris, was injured in an assault outside Seattle on Saturday night. Hopefully he'll have a quick recovery.
