Portugal. The Man set to perform at 2021 Alaska State Fair

Alaska-rooted band Portugal. The Man will be returning to the state to play at the 2021 Alaska State Fair on Aug. 21, fair officials announced Thursday.

The band, which also played the 2015 edition of the fair, will be joined by opening act Quinn Christopherson of Anchorage, an Ahtna Athabaskan and Iñupiaq songwriter who won NPR’s 2019 Tiny Desk Contest.

PTM bassist Zach Carothers, in a post on the band’s Instagram page, said, “We can’t wait for the world’s biggest cabbage, because we grow the best cabbages in Alaska, the Zipper, corndogs, the Gravitron, funnel cakes, Husky burgers, squirrel cages, those were always my jam. We miss you. We can’t wait to get home.”

PTM, now based in Portland, Oregon, became a worldwide sensation with the 2017 single “Feel It Still,” which won a Grammy award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

PTM joins major acts like Martina McBride, Dashboard Confessional and Billy Idol as scheduled performers as part of the AT&T Concert Series at the ConocoPhillips Borealis Theatre at the fairgrounds in Palmer.
