Artist Diedra Krieger and volunteers inserted plastic drink bottles into the mesh on a dome constructed by Krieger on the front lawn of the Anchorage Museum on Friday, August 1, 2014. The event was held in conjunction with the "Gyre: The Plastic Ocean" exhibit at the museum. The dome was part of an effort to spark conversations about environmental issues.

The museum will hold events on Saturday and Sunday related to the environment, recycling and health. From 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, visitors can make small geodesic domes inspired by "Plastic Fantastic," and from 11 a.m. to noon Sunday, a conversation about plastic is scheduled on the lawn.
