OPINION: National Women's Health Care Week is a perfect time for women to take charge of their own health by scheduling a checkup. Yet the very health centers they visit and the services many depend on are under attack.

Now that the dust has settled on the primary election, I wanted to share some reflections on the Parental Notice Initiative, Measure 2, from Planned Parenthood's perspective.
It has been 37 years since the Supreme Court rendered its landmark decision guaranteeing a woman's right to terminate a pregnancy. Abortion existed before the decision known as Roe v. Wade but the choices for women then were incredibly expensive or extremely dangerous.
