Anchorage teen dies after early-morning Mountain View shooting

Anchorage police said a 15-year-old girl died after an early-morning shooting in Anchorage's Mountain View neighborhood Tuesday.

According to a release from the Anchorage Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting at the 600 block of North Flower Street at about 3:15 a.m. Tuesday.

"When police and medics responded, they discovered a female juvenile inside the residence who had been shot," the release said. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital, but died a short time later. The investigation was ongoing Tuesday morning, with little additional detail immediately available.

"Police are interviewing witnesses and piecing together the incident at this time," police spokesperson Jennifer Castro said.
