Fort Wainwright soldier gets 6 years for child porn

A 28-year-old Fort Wainwright soldier has been sentenced to six years in prison for child pornography crimes, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Tuesday.

According to federal court records, Stephen Michael St. Hilaire was indicted on three child exploitation charges for the distribution, receipt and possession of child pornography last May. He pleaded guilty in September, court records show. On Tuesday, the U.S. Attorney's Office said St. Hilaire's activity was discovered on a file-sharing website.

When St. Hilaire's computer was confiscated from the Fort Wainwright barracks in Fairbanks, police found hundreds of child pornography photos and videos, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Ralph Beistline sentenced St. Hilaire to 72 months in prison, as well as 15 years of supervised release.
