A 26-year-old man who Alaska State Troopers say fired a gun into the air and stole ammunition from a store in the rural Alaska community of Tununak was arrested Wednesday.
Troopers in Bethel received a call on Wednesday afternoon from the tribal police officer in Tununak, which is about 115 miles northwest of the hub community of Bethel.
The tribal officer reported Greg Angaiak, 26, was walking through the village of about 384 people, firing his handgun into the air, troopers said. Angaiak then went into a local store where he stole ammunition and reloaded his weapon, they said.
Bethel troopers flew to the community and arrested Angaiak without incident. He's been taken to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center, where he was being held without bail.
According to troopers, Angaiak faces second-degree misconduct involving a weapon, third-degree assault, and theft charges.
Alcohol was not a factor, according to troopers.
