NMS Training Systems has announced three new hires. Bernie Henrie is a customer service representative. She previously worked for Morris Communications. With more than seven years of experience as a customer service rep, she will be involved in initial point of contact, registration, client data base and on-site payments. Marshall Watson is operations manager. A graduate of the University of Maryland University College with a master of science degree in management, Marshall will direct overall business activity and resources of operations, managing the training and project calendar along with instructors and course coordination and development. Mel Porter is an account manager, having worked in business development for the last five years. Prior to that, he had 30 years in the food service industry. Mel will be involved with strategies for new and existing business, meeting with clients and maintaining client relationships.

Parker Horn Co. has announced the return of Lisa Parker to the firm as president. Parker specializes in government and community relations as well as assisting clientele with crisis, media and risk communication and training. Parker has spent her career working in the natural resources arena in the areas of land, mining and oil and gas issues.

Kibe Lucas of Keller Williams Realty, Alaska Group, in Wasilla, and Raney Hardman, Kathi Olmstead and Laura Hamilton, associates with RE/MAX of Eagle River Inc., have earned the Certified Distressed Property Expert designation, having completed training in foreclosure avoidance and short sales. Short sales allow the cash-strapped seller to repay the mortgage at the price that the home sells for, even though it is lower than what is owed on the property. With lower property values, this can save many people from foreclosure and bankruptcy.

Dave Valdez has been named regional banking private banker for Wells Fargo, serving high-net-worth clients. He will provide Wells Fargo clients with customized banking solutions guided by each client's short- and long-term financial goals. Valdez is based at the Minnesota-Benson store in Anchorage. Valdez has previous experience as a credit manager for Wells Fargo Financial and financial adviser for Morgan Stanley.

Martin Hanofee has joined The Tatitlek Corp. as the third and final senior vice president for the company. He will oversee business operations. Hanofee has experience as vice president of business development at Chugach Alaska Corp., was president of Chugach Development Corp. and was project manager at the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station.

Tlisa Northcutt, a member of University of Alaska Anchorage's Advancement Team, is now a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). CFRE International certifies fundraising professionals who demonstrate the knowledge, skills and commitment to high standards of ethical and professional practice in philanthropic fundraising. This is the highest level of professional certification for a fundraising professional. Tlisa has been with UAA for nine years and is the director of development for athletics.
