Spenard Roadhouse in Anchorage is known for its annual Christmas eggnog. This year's holiday cocktail features naughty and nice versions. Assistant bar manager Orion Donicht shares the house recipe for you to create and enjoy at home.
Naughty eggnog:
1 raw egg
Dry shake vigorously
Add 1 ½ oz. Mount Gay Black Barrel rum
Add ¾ oz. eggnog simple syrup
Add ice, shake and pour
Top with a dash of nutmeg
Nice eggnog:
1 ½ oz. Mount Gay Black Barrel rum
Add ¾ oz. eggnog simple syrup
Add 2 splashes of soda water
Add ice
Garnish with cinnamon stick
To make eggnog simple syrup, combine:
1 vanilla bean
1 cinnamon stick
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 tsp. whole cloves
2 cups water
2 cups granulated sugar and bring to a boil, stirring until sugar has dissolved
