Alaskans in the U.S. Hockey League

Only a handful of Alaska players this season in the U.S. Hockey League, generally recognized as the best junior circuit in the country.

By my count -- and be forewarned, not all hometowns are listed on rosters on the league's website -- just five Alaskans on the circuit this season.

The rundown:

Bloomington Thunder -- F Sean Harrison, 19, of Anchorage, ticketed for Union.

Des Moines Buccaneers -- F Kenny Hausinger, 20, of Anchorage, ticketed for Sacred Heart.

Lincoln Stars -- D Christian Hausinger, 18, of Anchorage, ticketed for Sacred Heart.

Omaha Lancers -- G Kris Oldham, 18, of Anchorage, ticketed for Nebraska-Omaha. Tampa Bay Lightning draft pick.

Waterloo Black Hawks -- D Mason Anderson, 20, of Anchorage.
