UAA's latest recruit: Forward Nils Rygaard

UAA will have NAHL Janesville Jets forward Nils Rygaard of Sweden join them at the semester break to maintain depth after Luke McColgan apparently has decided to leave hockey -- injury concerns, we're told.

In any event, Rygaard, 20, owns 4-7--11 totals and a +11 rating in 15 games this season. He's a 6-foot-, 181-pounder -- energy-type guy, I hear.

Last season, Rygaard put up 15-12--27 totals and a +16 rating in 58 games, though that is somewhat misleading. He went just 2-1--3 and -1 in his first 23 games -- no doubt adjusting to small rinks in North America -- before going 13-11--24 and +17 in his final 35 regular-season games. He furnished four goals in nine playoff games.

The Seawolves, who are idle this weekend, have another recruit in Janesville in Kip Hoffman, 18. He's 1-2--3 and -4 in 11 games.

UAA next weekend entertains Ferris State in a WCHA series at Sullivan Arena.
