A Swedish professor cut off his much younger wife's lips with a knife and ate them because he believed she was having an affair, according to a report.
Swedish daily Aftonbladet said the unnamed man, an associate professor at Sweden's prestigious Karolinska Institute, is behind held in police custody on suspicion of attempted murder.
"He cut off her lips and ate them," a source close to the case told the Swedish newspaper, according to Agence France-Presse. "He doesn't seem to regret anything. He thinks she is the one who has offended him."

The woman suffered "very serious injuries," her lawyer Ingela Hessius Ekman told Aftonbladet, according to the Mail Online. "The doctors can't yet say whether or not she can be healed."
The professor reportedly has several children from a previous marriage, and just a few weeks after divorcing his first wife he married a much younger woman, Sweden's English-language newspaper The Local reported.
The Mail Online reported that the man admitted to having cut off her lips in retaliation, in a closed court hearing.
He has been ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
