He may be "Too Legit to Quit," but MC Hammer claims his recent arrest was anything but.

The 1990s rap star tweeted on Saturday that he was the victim of racial profiling by police in the Northern California city of Dublin this week, according to The Associated Press.

Hammer, 50, was arrested on on charges of obstructing and resisting an officer Thursday night.

He said an officer approached his car in a shopping area parking lot and asked if he was on parole or probation.

As Hammer handed the officer his ID, he claims the officer tried to pull him out of his car, the Oakland Tribune reported.

Police in Dublin told CNN that Hammer was in a vehicle with expired registration and he was not the registered owner.

"After asking Hammer who the registered owner was he became very argumentative and refused to answer the officer's questions," police spokesman Herb Walters wrote in an email to CNN.

No drugs or alcohol were suspected in the incident, KTLA reported.

Hammer, born Stanley Kirk Burrell, Hammer tweeted that he wasn't bitter and considered what happened "a teachable moment."
