Young lets Alaskans down

Don Young, our representative, signed the Trump health care bill today — that was opposed by hospitals, doctors, nurses and the AARP — that effectively reduces health care for millions of our citizens.

Pre-existing conditions and Medicaid are two of the main cutbacks. It is time for Alaskans to decide if we need a representative in office who does not seem to represent the most vulnerable part of our population in Alaska. I vote no.

Elrod makes my point

Phillip Elrod's May 4 response ("People today don't die for lies") to my May 1 letter ("People die for lies to this day") reinforces every single point I made. Most astounding is his call for yet more "unconstitutional infiltration" of government by your "Christian values." That's Christian dominionism (The "Seven Mountains"). It's unconstitutional.

New York Times twists facts

Mary Navitsky (May 1) says she was greatly disturbed to see the photo of Kid Rock, Sarah Palin and Ted Nugent taken in front of the portrait of Hillary Clinton in the White House. She says that this is a photo of them "mocking" Hillary, showing disrespect. My reaction when I read this was. … What! I had seen the photo a week or so ago with an associated article about these three visiting the White House, but had no memory of seeing this disrespect. So I pulled up the photo on the internet … and absolutely no mocking was apparent. This time I also carefully read The New York Times article that went with the photo and guess what … The NY Times describes the photo as "an impromptu snapshot — featuring a sneering Ms. Palin."

So once again we have The New York Times twisting the facts to further their own political objectives. Any chance it was a New York Times reporter/photographer who stopped the three for a snapshot just as they were passing Hillary's portrait? And we wonder why there is such polarization in this country. Almost seems like for some, enhancing this division is good business.
