Trump, allies looking to make FBI into arm of Republican Party

Fox News and President Trump are engaging in a misinformation campaign designed to politicize and delegitimize Robert Mueller and the FBI. The short-term goal of this campaign is to cast doubt on the findings of Mueller's investigation and make it harder to convict or impeach President Trump and his allies if the investigation finds wrongdoing. I am worried about the health of our democracy in the face of such a campaign.

For democracies to function, the justice system must be an impartial enforcer of laws. Painting the FBI as a group of partisan hacks out to get Donald Trump may provide some protection to Trump allies, but it also does lasting damage to the faith of the American people in our system of justice.

While the FBI was formerly trusted by the vast majority of Americans of all political stripes, today about half of Republicans believe it is a liberal-dominated agency bent on bringing down Republicans. Ironically, FBI employees mostly lean Republican. By playing the victim, Trump is laying the groundwork to remove top leadership at the FBI and remake the agency into an arm of the Republican party.

That would be tragic and dangerous. The FBI must not become a political tool. We repaired that flawed system after the death of J. Edgar Hoover. Let's not go back.

Check the record: Trump is getting things done

Despite the constant complaints from all those poor losers who can't accept that Trump is president, the facts reveal we are on our way to making America great again. The clear record shows Trump is getting things done.

He put a conservative on the Supreme Court; he's cut hundreds of red tape regulations that strangled our economy; he's going after illegals and criminals; the stock market is setting records; jobs are being created; recently passed tax cuts will boost everyone's take-home pay starting in February and create even more jobs; he got us out of the Paris accord, saving America billions of dollars and millions of jobs; and he's put the world on notice America won't be weak any longer.

Here in Alaska, after 40 years we have a chance to open ANWR, Pebble and the life-saving King Cove road. Trump's rebuilding of our military will be great for Alaska. Most of all, Trump has given Americans hope for a bright future. He is making America great again. It's past time to accept it.

No way Republican tax plan can deliver on its promises

The new GOP tax plan can best be described in three words: Bait and switch.

White House resident evokes another well-known scammer

We found out the Nigerian Prince lives in the White House. He promises you $20 in your paycheck if you give up a little Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.

We have a White House under criminal investigation, yet the Republican Senate just goes along with this charade. After the tax cut we saw what the Senate got for their donors. Go along. Get along. We voted for them.

Looks like the ADN is still leaning toward the left

It appears that the new owners of the ADN are making the same mistake as the previous owner. They are trying to publish a liberal-biased paper in a conservative state.
