Letters to the Editor

Letter: Thank you, Alaska

Thank you for covering our story.

Hopefully it will be a lesson of the unforgiving might of the mountain to some —and, to others, a story of enduring great trouble by a young couple with a happy ending.

We would like to emphasize our great gratefulness to all those whose support and help made it possible to tell the story at all. We would especially like to thank the Denali National Park rangers, Mountain Trip guides and Providence Hospital staff.

Many thanks to the ranger team that carried out the rescue operation with great devotion, and with support from Mountain Trip guides.

We also experienced enormous assistance in Providence Hospital on every level. Thanks to their professional care, the recovery from such a horrific accident was possible. It was a great pleasure to be a patient of the excellent neurosurgeon Dr. Louis Kralick and his team that conducted the necessary surgery.

We also encountered much warmth, kind words and various types of support from your readers and Alaska's people.

We really appreciate all the good that came to us. Despite the fact that our lives have changed as a result of the accident and that all our plans were destroyed, we were able to experience the hospitality of the local community during the time we spent here, which helped us get through that experience.
