I've found a workaround regarding the recent controversy over the national anthem. When the anthem starts, I will stand in respect for our country and those who serve. At the halfway point, I will sit down in protest of President Donald Trump's protesting our right to protest. Then, I will stand again when the singer hits that high note at the end of "land of the free."
Anyone brave enough to try that in public also gets my respect.
