Letter: Remember D-Day

Once again, I note the paper's lack of historical perspective. June 6 marked the anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy, which led to final victory over Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich of Germany.

The only mention in the June 6 edition was in the comic strip Peanuts, with Snoopy shown as a soldier in the water off the beach. Those of us old enough to remember the events of World War II do not forget what it took to defeat Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan.

Will the paper acknowledge V-E Day, V-J Day, or any other milestone events of WWII, or do we simply let these historic moments fade into the dustbins of yesterday?
