Do you want to recover the confiscated half of your PFD, and get its full value ever again? Then get loud, and send emails to your legislators.
Our PFD formula law requires a certain calculation, based on a five-year average. Alaska's Supreme Court ruled that our state Legislature must "officially appropriate" it for it to be paid. Legislators have broken our trust by refusing to "officially appropriate" according to this formula. The Supreme Court has ignored our will by giving them a wink and a nod. Senate Republican majority caucus legislators Pete Kelly, Kevin Meyer, Peter Micciche, Anna MacKinnon and Democratic Sen. Lyman Hoffman, who caucuses with the majority, have repeatedly voted to appropriate PFDs far below this full formula law value, and they got away with it!
The Legislature should amend our PFD law to specify: a penalty for not "officially appropriating" full value, according to this PFD formula law, and return all confiscated portions thereof to the people.
This will never happen. So, we must demand a state constitutional convention to enter it into our constitution. Time to get loud!
