For quite some time, I have been an avid reader of ADN and, to the surprise or dismay of my fellow friends and people of Alaska villages, I have been a registered Republican for the past 10 years.
When I reached voting age, I was a Democrat for most of my life, maybe because rural Alaska villages were treated better in terms of funding issues by the Democrats in the Alaska Legislature.
When I became older, I switched my party status to Republican because of my profound faith in God and on certain social and moral issues such as abortion that Republicans are professed to take a certain stance when it comes to voting. After seeing so much inundating of fiscal divisiveness especially with the Senate Republicans and in some instances with conservative Democrats, I am once again contemplating a change to my party status, this time as an independent.
With this in mind, I am supporting the Walker-Mallott administration for four more years of responsible leadership. They worked hard as team players to almost close the fiscal gap. What is more exciting, with the continued leadership of the Walker-Mallott team, is that thousands of more jobs will be created with the Alaska LNG project that Gov. Bill Walker has been spearheading since his election.
