Letter: Thanks for Wasilla bag ban

Thanks to the city of Wasilla for its implementation of banning plastic bags 2.25 mils or less in thickness as of July 1. Congratulations to the citizens who shop and live in the city of Wasilla for the great job bringing their own reusable bags when shopping in local stores. The trees, streams and fences around town should remain much cleaner now that the flimsy single-use plastic bags are no longer going out the doors of the stores in Wasilla.

A hearty thanks to Walmart also for charging only those customers who choose to take one of the heavier plastic bags they are handing out, and not adding the cost on for all consumers.

This is a great change we are making as a community, and we look forward to seeing the change coming to Palmer starting Jan. 1 next year.
