Letter: Remembering a fallen friend

This week marks the 43rd anniversary of the death of my friend, Anchorage Police Department officer Jonathan Flora. Jon was shot and killed Sept. 8, 1975, while conducting a building search on a burglary-in-progress call at a drug treatment center.

Jon was a kind and gentle man and a friend to all. These 43 years have not diminished the pain of losing my friend. Had Jon survived, I can well imagine his hair as gray as mine, that we would still be friends and I'd still be his barber.
