Letter: I don’t trust Dunleavy

Gubernatorial candidate Mike Dunleavy said, "Elections are about trust." I'll take him at his word there, and explain why I don't trust him. As the chairman of the Senate Education Committee, he did his best to intimidate teachers at hearings and take funding away from public schools. His fiscal plan is another version of the standard "oil will save us" disconnect from reality. In his vague promises for further budget cuts, he won't tell us which programs he'll cut — and at this point, there's not much left except public safety and education.

I don't trust Dunleavy to do the right thing for Alaskans. I ask voters to look at his past actions and empty promises carefully, and vote for Bill Walker on Nov. 6. Bill may not tell us what we want to hear, but I trust him.
