Letters to the Editor

Letter: Walker is a straight shooter

As a photojournalist in Alaska for six years, I covered campaigns, politicians and legislative sessions. I'm trained to be a thoughtful and objective observer. I reported on significant legislation passed in Juneau, and I witnessed political bullying. When Gov. Bill Walker began leading our state, I saw a different approach. He worked in earnest to find solutions without the rampant partisanship.

I left television news almost two years ago, and can now share my political views — views I previously suppressed as a journalist. In my current communications staff role for Gov. Walker, I can tell you with confidence he is a thoughtful and authentic man. He cares deeply about all Alaskans. He makes difficult decisions by seeking out opinions different from his own. Morally, I could not work for someone who does not share those values.

Gov. Walker seeks the right answers for Alaska by surrounding himself with a diverse set of advisers — Republicans, Democrats, and political views between. I want a governor who's willing and able to include all views when making a decision — especially a tough one. Gov. Walker is the only candidate who does that, which is why he has my vote on Nov. 6.
