Letter: Dunleavy and Begich

I can’t sit on the sidelines of this governor’s race any longer. I know both Mark Begich and Mike Dunleavy quite well. I worked with Mark for a number of years when he was on the assembly and I was mayor and I’ve gotten to know Mike well over the past eight years. I hope my perspective will add some value to voters on both these candidates.

The biggest difference between the two can be best described by the word authenticity. Mike Dunleavy is authentic. He is the person he presents to voters. He doesn’t change his message based on who the audience is. His only motivation is to do what’s best for Alaska as he sees best.

Mark Begich is different. He’s one person when he’s talking to business groups; he’s another person when he’s talking to unions, and he is a third person when he’s talking to news reporters.

Mike Dunleavy is the only person with the authenticity and integrity to be the kind of governor that Alaskans deserve and can trust.
