Letter: NRA helping schools

In her commentary on the synagogue massacre, Sue Libenson asked a good question: “Where are the NRA board members when the parishioners and school custodians are washing the blood off the walls?” Fortunately, I know the answer. They are administering the NRA School Shield program, begun after Sandy Hook, which provides schools with technical expertise in access control plus grants for training and equipment.

This year saw $600,000 given to schools in 23 states. As well as that they also oppose programs like the one that allowed the Parkland shooter to buy his guns by burying his offenses. Finally, they work to see that law-abiding adults can exercise our right to defend ourselves when seconds count and the police are just minutes away.
