Letter: Wasteful idling

What could be more wasteful and polluting than a truck sitting at idle for no good reason?

How about 20 to 30 trucks and vehicles?

That was the scene at the Old Seward Lithia Chevy lot on Saturday — the entire front row of vehicles was sitting at idle. The headlights and hazard lights were on, we assume to attract attention. We assume they were running the vehicles to keep the batteries charged. We drove by more than an hour later and they were still spewing plumes of exhaust. It can’t be good for the engine, and what an expensive waste of gasoline!

In an era when we all should be concerned about the air we breath, and when many of us are making attempts to reduce our carbon footprint, it was a disgusting spectacle!
