Letter: Not our problem

A response to the letter pleading for compassion for the immigrants: Will someone please explain why the United States, or Mexico for that matter, is required to have compassion for the refugees while ignoring the fact that they are experiencing their plight because their governments obviously have no compassion for them? Why is the U.S. president, or am I, more responsible for them than Daniel Ortega or Jimmy Morales or Salvador Sánchez Cerén? The problem, as do most human problems, begins at home.
