wanted to thank every organizer, volunteer, coach and parent that helped with the 2019 Battle of the Books. It was amazing to watch the children wiggle with excitement in their seats when they knew the correct answer and shake the hands of their opponents after each round. I know this is not an event that brings in money with ticket sales and could easily be cut, but the ripple effect of encouraging reading, healthy competition and good sportsmanship is invaluable.
