Letter: The wall makes sense

The recent letter by Asher Harley makes no sense on the cuts in spending or increase in taxes. Why not just cut aid to foreign countries? On Dec. 18, 2018, The New York Times ran an article stating that we are giving $5.8 billion to Central America to try to increase opportunity in those countries. Why not just use that money to build the wall, thus making the money a deterrent from coming to the United States instead of an incentive to stay in their country?

If we incentivize people to stay in their own countries, we will need to continue incentivizing into the future for however long we don’t secure the border. Building the wall will put an end to it and in the long run be much less expensive.
