Letter: Handguns need to go

Handguns, handguns, handguns! I swear, during the past two months, there have been one or two articles per week in the ADN about some Alaskan pulling out a handgun and hurting or killing someone. Also in those two months, I’ve not read one article where someone with a concealed-carry weapon averted any violence anywhere in Alaska.

Handguns are so lethal, so easy to carry. I’m fearful they’re everywhere! Teenagers killing teenagers, loved ones killing loved ones, stupid people pulling out a loaded handgun in a café and injuring others, more stupid people firing into crowds. “An armed society is a polite society?” I don’t think so! Alaskans are not “polite” with all this gun wielding, and we’re certainly not safer. The handguns need to go.
