Letter: Unjustified raise

I find it interesting that under Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s budget proposal, the state Legislature’s budget will rise from $66 million to $67 million. While nearly every other government agency is receiving catastrophic budget cuts, the Legislature — which many citizens will agree has been weak and ineffectual for the past several years — is receiving more money.

The office of the governor is also receiving more money than it did under Gov. Walker — $2 million more. Why is this? Does Gov. Dunleavy have a justification for giving his office and the Legislature million-dollar raises, while at the same time making catastrophic cuts to our school system, our universities, our hospitals, our wildlife refuges, our ferries?
