Patriotism to a country is earned through its honor and leadership, not forced upon its citizenry. David Donley is proposing nothing less than forced indoctrination of our youth reminiscent of another chapter in human history.

He and his proposal should be rebuked without fear of being called unpatriotic, for he is counting on that fear to approve it. The school board should not be intimidated. After all, what’s next, having the students turn to the east and salute President Donald Trump?
