U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, a freshman congresswoman from Minnesota, is like the child in Hans Christian Andersen’s tale about the emperor’s new clothes. She, seemingly alone, has dared to point out that there is a pro-Israel lobby, active in the United States, pushing for policies that, first and foremost, benefit Israel.
Members of this support group often seem indifferent about how these policies might affect the national security, international credibility and moral integrity of the United States. No one has insinuated that every Jew in the United States supports this pro-Israel lobby. Many oppose it. Some have even organized to defend Rep. Omar. They are courageous.
While the cowardly Democratic leadership is pulling together to impugn Ilhan Omar, nearly one million children in Gaza languish in the world’s largest open-air prison. Who says America’s one-sided support for the Israeli oppressors is in the best interest of the American people?
