Letter: Time’s up for oil credits

Gov. Mike Dunleavy claims he wants to balance Alaska's budget, while also restoring the full Permanent Fund dividend. He seems determined to take money away from education and public transport in order to do this, but a simpler and more beneficial way exists: Eliminate Alaska's oil tax credits. This would direct millions of dollars back into our economy, rather than to Outside corporations.

If the oil companies don’t like it, they can take their business elsewhere. With catastrophic climate change threatening us more and more every day, we cannot afford to aid and abet oil corporations the way we have in the past. It’s time to make them pay their own way, or show them the door.
