I agree with Dianna Hawn when she writes that Anchorage School District won’t stand firm defending guidelines on wearing correct swimwear (ADN, Sept.12). But one has to read between the lines of the original reporting to understand why it is so. There was no need to mention the girl’s mixed-race origin, unless the goal was to present the entire incident as a race issue.
