One standard definition of bribery is the solicitation of a thing of personal value in exchange for an official act. Announcement of a criminal investigation into the Bidens was a thing of personal value to President Donald Trump, and holding a meeting in the White House is an official act. There seems little doubt that President Trump offered one of these things in exchange for the other.
Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe President Trump has some factual, legal, moral or political arguments that would lead me to conclude that he should not be removed from office. I’m all ears. I hope the members of the United States Senate are too.
