Letter: Shame on scofflaws

I am appalled by the blatant disregard for the law shown by so many people these days. If one wants to buy alcohol, a drivers license must be shown to prove a DUI has not been committed by the purchaser. A safety concern.

I think the state of Alaska should have a law stating that anyone who sells a vehicle should have to have proof given to them that the buyer has a valid driver’s license, valid insurance and their name is not on the scofflaw list. If these laws were not followed, an arrest could be made.

An automobile can be a lethal weapon, and the Abbott family has no regard for the law or concern for others’ safety. Many of us have been poor, but figured a way to pay for transportation and to pay our bills. Sometimes it was difficult, but we figured a way to make payments and found that people were willing to work with us during our struggle. The Abbot family is laughing at the rest of us for following the law. Shame on them.
