Letter: Jenkins plea

Commentator Paul Jenkins presents something of a dilemma to me and, I suspect, many other ADN readers. He creates vivid images to support his arguments. Consider, for example, his recent assertion that Anchorage will be “schnoz-deep in cash … when a fleet of Brinks trucks” arrives with the proceeds of the Municipal Light and Power sale. The problem is that his arguments, while facially logical, fall apart upon close inspection.

Still, appealing to logic on whatever level makes him something of an anomaly in today’s political climate: President Donald Trump and Gov. Mike Dunleavy rarely bother to make any appeal to logic, for example. Jenkins’ ability to twist logic shows that he has a strong grasp of it. I hate to speculate about people’s motives, but in this case I must ask “Why, Paul Jenkins, why? Why can’t you use your powers for good, not evil?”
