Letter: Gambling again

I notice that the governor’s push to encourage gambling in our state has his favorite philosophy, “privatizing,” slipped into it. “Hired” contractors would run the programs.

I wonder if these would be the same contractors that would run the out-of-state prisons, psychiatric institutes and eventually the ferry system — and anything else the state owns that the governor would like to privatize.

Hate to disappoint, but any profitable gambling program the state allows will eventually be run by the big boys in Las Vegas. It's too bad our state isn't capable of managing its own systems, and sees the need to sell off portions of itself to pay the voters their annual bribe.
