Letter: Health care superiority

The coronavirus will provide a macro comparison between socialized health care quality versus private health care.

The European Union countries all have socialized medicine. Switzerland is entirely surrounded by the EU and is a 100% private health system with no Medicare or Medicaid; everyone has private health insurance, regardless of income. The U.S. system is a cross between socialized and private health care.

I predict the EU countries will have the highest death rate from the virus, followed by the U.S. Switzerland, with an entirely private health care system, will have the lowest fatality rate. I believe socialized medicine destroys incentive to innovate or be efficient in health care delivery.
