Letters to the Editor

Letter: We’re in this war together

I remember reading magazines from the early 1940s in which almost all articles, cartoons and even ads constantly referred to World War II. For the past week, our newspaper consisted almost exclusively of news stories about our world's war against the COVID-19 virus.

This war requires our patriotism, too. To fight this war, we need to take care of each other because that's the best way to take care of ourselves. And vice versa.

I fight by staying away from St. Benedict’s. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass takes on a whole new meaning now. I do help out at our parish food bank, where I can safely prepare food boxes and bags for deliveries. In our parish food bank I’m alone physically, but not spiritually. Billions of people on the planet realize caring for ourselves is caring for each other so we’ll win the war.
