Letter: COVID-19 comparisons

The May 5 letter titled “COVID-19 impact” compared Alaska’s COVID-19 deaths against the average number of deaths from other causes. A more appropriate comparison would be to consider the COVID-19 deaths that would have occurred if the lockdown measures and restrictions were not implemented. The number of deaths would certainly have been much greater than the 10 we’ve seen so far.
