I am so grateful for Superintendent Deena Bishop’s recent clear, data-driven op-ed. The Anchorage School District, as well as every teacher in this state, is jumping through oscillating rings of fire trying to have online platforms ready for our kids to start school next week. Every ASD employee deserves kudos and abundant community support for the lengths they are going to to ensure there is a system ready for every child to learn this fall.
I find it deeply regrettable that a state employee — a state commissioner, no less — would attack another public agency and propose spending from the deficit to make their life easier at the expense of Anchorage’s kids.
