Letters to the Editor

Letter: Thanks for tournament support

For the past eight years, I have been the chair of the BOMA Anchorage golf committee. BOMA Anchorage represents the commercial real estate industry in Anchorage with a membership comprised of building owners and managers and the various professions that support the industry. Our tournament affords our members a chance to get out of the office, enjoy a more relaxed environment than a lunch meeting. All profits benefit Special Olympics Alaska.

Each year presents different challenges, but COVID-19 this year had us unsure if we could even have the tournament. I want to thank the Anchorage Golf Course and it’s staff for their flexibility and ideas which enabled us to go forward with our tournament, even when the mayor’s most recent orders took effect just a few days prior to our tournament.

Nick Brennan, the AGC Administrative Assistant, and Jonathon Pendergrast, the AGC Assistant Food and Beverage Manager, are awesome. Their flexibility and ideas are a major reason we were able to once again have a successful tournament and raise a lot of money for Special Olympics Alaska. Thank you to their support, along with the assistance of Special Olympics Alaska staff, the sponsors of our tournament and the 33 teams who enjoyed a great day on the golf course. We were reminded that we live in a community with a lot of great people.
