Letters to the Editor

Letter: Embarrassed Republican

As a lifelong Republican, I have never been more embarrassed for my party and my country. I find it unfathomable that reasonable and conscientious Republicans continue to support this President after a long list of abysmal comments and actions. As a Vietnam veteran, I categorically object to his disrespectful treatment of our armed services; from his comments regarding John McCain to his disparaging remarks about the fallen at Belleau Wood and Normandy.

A President is supposed to unite our country, not tear it apart. A President is suppose to keep our country safe, not deny the seriousness of the virus, then criticize and belittle those who are knowledgeable. A President is not supposed to use his office for his own personal gain. Our President is supposed to oppose and denounce those that would disrupt our country, not say that “there are good on both sides.” The President must be a model of integrity, not divisive. It will be a sad day for our country if this President is reelected for another four years.
