Letters to the Editor

Letter: Galvin a listener

I recently sent an email to Alyse Galvin objecting to some of her public statements on an issue that is very important to me. It was a pretty hard hitting letter. I was kind of surprised at myself…. she must have hit a raw nerve. She emailed me back a thoughtful and well-reasoned response. Hmm, you don’t get that very often from politicians these days. And then, on top of that, she called me up on the phone.

It was a constructive conversation. We both knew we weren’t going to bring the other all the way to our respective sides, but we both learned something and made the other think more deeply about the problem and maybe even moved the other, at least a little bit.

My point, of course, is that Alyse is engaged with the people, and is willing to listen to opposing views and carry on constructive dialogue. What a breath of fresh air! I am voting for Alyse Galvin for U.S. House of Representatives.
