Letter: Give Trump, Sullivan the boot

I am 88 years old and have lived in Alaska more than 76 years. Franklin Delano Roosevelt is the first President I remember. Since then, there have been a few really good Presidents, some not-so-good ones, and some cyphers. However, in all my years, there has not been a President like Donald Trump, with his singular self-interest, rudeness, crudeness, lack of empathy and lying.

We are close to the end of his term. In that time, he has taken apart so many hard-earned things that made America great. Then along came COVID-19, which has brought many of us to the brink because Trump has treated the threat so cavalierly. Nine months into the crisis, he keeps saying it is almost over, despite 227,000 deaths and counting. Every state, including Alaska, is seeing more cases and more deaths daily.

Personally, I regret the first four years of Trump’s presidency and am terrified at what four more years of him might bring. I have already voted and urge all of you who are sneaking up on the “golden years” to join me in supporting Joe Biden at the polls, and send Sen. Dan Sullivan packing for his slavish loyalty to Mr. Trump. Do this for the future of your children, grandchildren and any “great-grands” you may have.
